The Miracle of Skin Needling
A multi-purpose treatment that targets everything from collagen decline and acne scars to hair loss.
Is Microneedling Worth the Investment?
A 2008 study revealed that skin treated with four microneedling sessions, spaced one month apart, showed up to a 400% increase in collagen and elastin six months after completing the treatment. Additionally, the reparative changes triggered by needling can reverse sun damage, reduce discolouration, repair the skin barrier, generate new vessels and plump the skin making your pores tighter + less visible. When compared to other procedures offering similar results, microneedling is often more cost-effective. With over 20 years of practice and managing a skin clinic with 49 years of past, it is clear that this treatment is more than just a passing trend in the pursuit of youthful skin + aging better.
What is Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT)
Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), also known as Percutaneous Collagen Induction (PCI) therapy, is a regenerative technique used to improve skin structure. Very fine needle lesions - aka. microchannels, micro-injuries - stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process without causing significant damage to the epidermis.
As a result, microneedling carries a lower risk of complications and side effects compared to any ablative and semi-ablative skin treatments. It is scarless, considered non-invasive and has no downtime at all. Clinical and scientific evidence supports the effectiveness of this method in treating wrinkles + fine lines, uneven texture + tone (pigmentation, redness, enlarged pores), stretch marks, and various types of scars.
Results can be further enhanced with proper homecare products and the addition of other treatments, such as Therapeutic Facials, Light modalities, Radio Frequency (RF) Technologies and in some cases peels. Microneedling can be used on most areas of the body, with certain areas being more commonly treated like face+neck.
How Microneedling Therapy Works
CIT involves using fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating the skin's natural healing process and leading to improved texture, the production of new collagen-rich tissue + a comprehensive skin rejuveantion. This means smoother, firmer, clearer skin. Since sun exposure depletes collagen and our skin naturally produces less as we age, any intervention that boosts collagen synthesis contributes to younger-looking and behaving skin.
Almost anyone can undergo the procedure, as long as they do not have infections, open lesions, or issues with wound healing.
What to Expect during the Procedure
During CIT, a topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area for about 20 minutes to ensure your comfort. Following this, small, controlled micro-injuries / microchannels are made using a microneedling device, which is a pen-like tool equipped with a disposable tip having tiny stainless-steel needles.
The skin right after the procedure is pinkish-red, swollen and has a mild sunburned sensation that usually fades away by ther next day. In rare cases the mild sunburn sensation, redness, and swelling can last up to 3 days, but side effects are generally minimal. Flaking / fine peeling may occur post-treatment depending on the hydration level of the skin. Temporary needle marks and bruising can also happen but they rare and heal in a couple of days.
Most patients typically need 4-6 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart. Skin improvement is gradual, with optimal results usually seen 3 to 6 months after the final treatment.

At home skin needling
While at-home microneedling devices have become popular in recent years, we strongly discourage their use. Though they may provide a similar sensation, the results are often less noticeable, and the lack of a sterile environment can expose individuals to harmful side effects. Furthermore, microneedling results appear gradually, with optimal effects typically seen 3 to 6 months after the last treatment. At-home devices can lead to impatience, prompting users to over-treat their skin, which may cause permanent damage.
If you're looking for healthier, more youthful skin while ensuring safety during the treatment process, we recommend scheduling an appointment with one of our skincare therapist.
Individual results may vary. Service protocols vary by location.
Why to choose Microneedling?
It offers almost “immediate” results
After a microneedling session, your skin will appear plump, pink, and luminous for a couple of weeks. While it’s not an aggressive procedure, microneedling is a gentler approach designed to deliver gradual, incremental results. Think of it as a technology that stimulates your skin’s natural ability to repair itself.
Enjoy lasting results and “better skin” over time
The effects of microneedling are not permanent, so we suggest a maintenance program to keep skin looking its best and maintain your results. This usually means quarterly sessions once you finished your initial program in conjuction with facials, at least at ICI PARIS. The great news is that microneedling also promises improvement over time.
Microneedling also complements at-home skincare regimens. When a client comes in for microneedling, we like to recommend products that support the skin + amplify the results. This is the perfect time to apply anti-aging products, as they will penetrate more effectively post-treatment.
For clients looking to maximize the benefits of microneedling, combining the treatment with other advanced aesthetic treatments like radiofrequency that can tighten tissue over the course of several months, providing even more noticeable results.
